Vintage goodies – a new dress, cape and jacket.

Standard

So these purchases are a little old now, I’ve probably had them for about a month. But my camera’s given up the ghost and I’ve managed to lose the cable for my phone somewhere so it’s taken me ages to get them on the computer. Apologies for the shoddy quality of these but I wanted to show you!

I love, love, love the pattern of this dress. It feels so autumnal as soon as I put it on! I’ve worn it a few times and tend to wear it in the same way – with my brown Primark riding boots, sometimes a tan belt, big earrings and my hair up. It’s just so easy to wear and was in the sale at Cow so I got it for a massive bargain.

I thought this was the perfect jacket for work with its cute collar, buttons and houndstooth pattern. So far I’ve only worn it once but I reckon I’ll get tonnes more use out of it in the spring when it’s warm enough to just wear this over a little dress. Check out Dammit Janet here.

And finally! This is Sherlock my beautiful cape. Again, apologies for the absolutely shoddy quality but it’s a dark green and black pattern with flecks of lighter colours through. I absolutely fell in love with it and as soon as I had it on I knew it had to be mine. It goes so well with my boots and I know it’s something I will keep for years and years. So beauts. Vintage fair and a little bit of a catch up…

Standard

Well it’s been another crazy mad week for me with plenty of work and a little play thrown in for good measure, a night out with the momma bear, moving house, the vintage fair and probably much more I’ve forgotten!

As always I didn’t come away empty handed from the fair but I managed to restrain myself to just one purchase – a lovely cushion made by my friend Emily from vintage fabric which matches the colour scheme in my new room.

Anyone in Redditch should definitely pop down to the fair on Saturdays 10-4 as it’s amazing. Not only have you got Forever Vintage – Emily’s range of beautiful cushions, tea sets and cake stands – but there’s also some fab vintage clothes and homeware.

New items in my wardrobe…

Standard

1. Very cheap little dollies from Primark but my other ones are falling apart and I thought these were a cute colour.
2. Again a Primark special but v.good for the winter I feel is just around the corner.
3. Little scarf/pashmina things. They were only a POUND each from this weird little shop in my home town. Lovely for putting round your shoulders like a granny at work 🙂
4. Comfiest jumper ever from H&M! I am definitely getting myself prepared for some harsh weather.
5. Yes, yes, these do look like pyjamas but they are in fact harem trousers from the aforementioned little weird shop where the music was too loud!

1.  Thought it was high time I bought new Barry M nailvarnishes as I haven’t had any for…ooh…at least a month. Went with these two as I kinda like the idea of having grey nails with some silver rings on. And the other colour is a little more cherry like than my purple ones.
2. I love these booties from New Look! Very similar to my other little ones in this post but a wedge heel. Feel they will be getting a lot of wear at work.
3. They have so many leopard print scarves in Cow at the moment, I was literally in heaven. But went for this one as it’s black and white so a little different to my others. You can never have too much leopard print right?
4. This scarf is my favourite new thing ever. I’m going to post about the Redditch Vintage Fair soon as I had my first experience there last week and absolutely love it. But this is from there anyway, I spotted it and loved it and then I realised it had loads of little Hs and some big Hs on it so it HAD to be mine. Also got a grey leopard print jacket from there which I love but haven’t got with me in the homeland to take a picture of 🙂
5. Plain over the knee socks from Primark, they might be going with my playsuit for a night out on Saturday.
6. This is from Cow and I kinda fell in love with it and felt I could give it a new home 🙂

What I’ll be wearing this summer…

Standard

Floral dress – Primark.
Earrings – H&M.
Denim shirt – Primark.
Printed dress – H&M.
Shoes – New Look.

So this summer I am getting well in to dresses from H&M. The ones they’re doing at the moment (very cheap in store, even cheaper online) which are short empire line strappy dresses are AMAZING. They go with everything. I have far too many colours already. But they can be worn with bare legs and gladiators for very hot days and a cardie, tights/leggings and boots for colder days so they’re very versatile.

Also enjoying my new denim shirt which is darker than my vintage one and more fitted. Layering up with a top underneath and a cardie over the top for colder days. And a pair of the comfiest ever trousers from H&M in navy.

Also on the menu are BIG earrings, donuts in your hair and school mistress shoes. Loving it.

Brb…

Standard

Honestly I am working on getting my computer issues sorted.
In the meantime I have been shopping in H&M, especially in love with their sale online, and getting some beautiful simple dresses for the summer; drinking Mango Passion Fruit Frappuccino Blended Juice Drink from Starbucks, subscribing to Heat as I buy it every week anyway and got free gifts from Barry M, wearing Rimmel’s Firecracker lipstick, watching Made in Chelsea – my kind of programme – and sticking a donut in my hair. Not a sticky one, a hair donut – silly!

I’ll be up and running again soon, promise!

Boots, postcards, belts and more – a trip to Leeds.

Standard

While on a shopping trip to Leeds this week I didn’t actually intend to buy anything but ended up snapping up a few bargs. The first place we went into was Primark and I saw this set of three skinny belts. I always like to have a few options and my brown ones are pretty much worn out now so thought I’d replace and now handily have a light patterned one and a denim-look one to add to my collection:

And then while in the shoe section I came across a lovely pair of tan heeled boots. I’ve been thinking about some heeled boots for a while and these were reduced to just a fiver (ÂŁ5! Unbelievable). They also had them in black and my friend snapped up a pair of them but I opted for the brown ‘uns 🙂

Our next stop off was a little shop called Octopus as my friend was searching for a present. It’s a really cute little colourful shop (I think they have a website as well) selling little trinkets and the like. Anyway I spotted this little piggy bowl and had to have it. I think I’m going to take it to work to nosh out of:

And while we were going through all the little arcades off the main street we found a shop selling funny postcards and cards. I found this one fairly amusing (apologies for not remembering the name of the shop):

And last but by no means least I went to H&M and found this playsuit for half price. I quite want to save it for my birthday celebrations in July but I’m so in love with it that it may find its way out before then. Coming soon to a ‘What I Wore’ blogpost near you!

And why not have a pic of my lovely new family of purchases together:

Major scarf love: my summer collection.

Standard

Anyone who knows me knows I have a bit of things for scarves – whether big chunky ones round my neck, shawl type ones or little headscarves to tie round my head. Last weekend I took the bold move of moving my winter ones to the cupboard and making sure I had all my more summery ones tied round my bedstead – the easiest place to stick them for easy access in the morning.

1. This is one of my most recent purchases from Peacocks. I’m enjoying wearing it with clashing prints.

2. A fairly average looking scarf bought by my mom for me one Christmas but I find it’s light enough to wear through spring and into the summer months.

3. I bought this scarf at school when everyone was wearing theirs as a triangle. Still love it now but tend to wear it loose or wrap it round my shoulders when it’s cold at work.

4. I’ve been searching for a silky scarf for ages and found this one in Primark. I’d like a similar one in pink to contrast with my blue blazer.

5. Love how bright this scarf is – can’t even remember where it’s from and I don’t get enough wear out of it really.

6. Possibly my favourite big scarf, I wear this a lot with my mac or my blue blazer and again use it in a granny chic style for my shoulders when it’s cold. It was from H&M.

7. This is the belt from a dress my friend gave me which I haven’t worn yet but I like how the slightly heavier material of the belt means it stays in a perfect bow round my head.

8. This is ages old, possibly from Claire’s or somewhere. I used to wear it a lot round my neck but find it takes ages to tie round my head so it’s only for days when I have a lot of patience and time (rarely happens!).

9. Oh Mr Leopard Print Scarf, how I love you. I bought this from Peacocks when we went out in leopard fancy dress for our A-Level results celebration and have since worn it tonnes round my neck or head, especially as my leopard print obsession has grown.

10. I don’t wear this a lot but have a few green things I like to pair it with, think it’s maybe from Peacocks as well.

11. This is my mom’s old hockey bandanna and has little elephants with hockey stick trunks, I love it so much – I don’t have a lot of yellow in my wardrobe so tend to wear it with clashing colours.

12. This is my newest headscarf, everyone needs a black one don’t they and this has little patterned flowers over it, combining my new love of patterns with my old love of having ridiculous bows in my hair! From Peacocks.

13. This scarf brings back memories as it was given to me for my 17th by my lovely school friends. It’s from Tie Rack and is just a beautiful fabric and colour. I love how it has blue patterns on it so I tend to wear it with blue.

14. I hardly ever wear this but it’s Hello Kitty (squeal) and was purchased on holiday in Tenerife. Reminds me of my sister a lot as she is a massive H.K. fan.
